Focus – Productivity Timer App Reviews

I run the Focus App on my computers, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch throughout my workday. It is an incredible app, so much better than just a timer. Using iCloud all of my devices sync my timer seamlessly. Working in discrete chunks of time with short breaks increases productivity by such a degree, and not having to fight with a timer, but rather having a single timer go across all devices with no effort at all (even showing up in the task bar), makes the experience truly irreplaceable for me. I cannot recommend Focus, especially used alongside OmniFocus highly enough.

Focus is a minimalist Pomodoro app with a sophisticated menu bar dropdown and excellent Handoff support with its iOS app. However, its statistics view is not helpful at all. It does not associate completed Pomodoros with specific tasks, and it does not allow me to estimate the number of Pomodoros per task and track how accurate I am (a key component of the Technique). In truth, if Focus could enable me to (1) assign and track # pomodoros per task, and (2) tag tasks and quickly sort by tag (as Wunderlist allows), it would be my go-to Pomodoro app. Unfortunately, because it doesn’t, I find myself continually drifting back to one that does.

The idea is great and it was in the list of best new app so I bought it. The features are very poor and it seems unfinished. $1 seems to me like the right price but it’s a lot more expensive :( To avoid until they adjust the price reasonably.

I would give it more stars if the sessions time choices were consistent between iOS and the desktop App (40 vs 45), or better: not predefined.

This is a very neat and fully functional pomodoro timer. The remaining time is now shown in the menubar, which is great. The only feature that is still dearly missed is (iCloud-)sync between multiple Macs and iOS devices.

Focus is a great pomodoro timer. Clean design, shows the current task if I choose to use the feature and generally doesn’t get in my way. Five stars as soon as it syncs with the copy on my other Mac and iOS devices (unfortunately the third marketing image above already suggests it does that—misleading)!

I really love the new design and the easy possibility for notes to the tasks. Awesome work ;)

This is a very basic pomodoro with adjustable times etc. Take up a lot of screen space. Notification sounds make my dog bark and I can’t turn them off. Instructions are poor. Confusing that completed tasks are shown and at the bottom it says Show Uncompleted Tasks. Not really as clean and small and efficient as my old pomodoro which even showed stats. Not intuitive. I wasted my money checking this out… and it was not cheap.

For the Iphone there are a lot of nice apps for pomodoro, for Mac, none... I spent too much money to find one that is good enough… This one is the best I found, but needs some improvements: shortcuts please! Statistics with more details! Allow to not have a sound… and some more. But at least it is stable, simple, and does the job, not like others that can not count properly, or put a simple accurate timer...

The more complicated this app gets, the less you can focus on the task you want to do. A simple pomodoro timer, pretty, adjustable, with logging progress.

Very satified. I have been using it for about 2 weeks and I have no complains. I love the keyboard shorts. The price is high but since I use it all the time its worth it.

Been looking for an app like this for some time now. Previously, I’ve used a Clear + Pomodoro Timer combo. Focus combines the two apps but it’s pricy and you can only have one task list. For the price, I’d like to be able to have separate task lists, e.g. to separate personal and professional tasks.

Great app guys! It really can help to work. But i see one thing: it will be awesome, if i will can see to how many time (sessions) i do any task in stats. Now i can see only all counts task — it some unuseful, sorry

Best pomodoro timer in appstore.

Very often it crashes on the attempt to extend period of focus. The ticking sound isn’t in sync with computer’s clock and if app running on two different computers in one room I have annoying mess of ticking. It doesn’t provide statistics on time taken for particular task. Period of iCloud sync is not adjustable and sometimes it’s too long. It would be great app if author fixed mistakes and added some statistics about tasks.

Little more than a timer. I thought this would help me but it doesn’t do anything more than my phone does. I wish I could get my $20 back.

Simple Pomodoro Timer and Task app. Beautifully simple, and easy to use.

Wish I could interface with the app from the toolbar rather than the dock. Otherwise its good.

I bought this app because I’m desperate for a good pomodoro app and I liked how simple the interface looks. As it stands right now though, i regret spending $10 on this app. * I’m happy to spend $10 on an app, but there is not $10 worth of features here. The app is a timer with a simple task list. There is no integration into other apps or even other parts of the sytem * I’m struggling to find a reason for the task list. I use Things and there is no compelling reason to use the task list * There is no keyboard shortcuts for any part of this app. You can’t even press enter on the add task popup to add the task. Ugh. Writing all this out really bums me out. 10 bucks!

This program got a huge potential. With improvements coming, I think this will turn out to be best task timer/organizer. Hopefully we will see the menubar and iCloud support soon. Also, very responsive developer who promptly answers inquires and suggestions.
